Is losing alignment result from the quest itself, or from killing Hervor?
Because I tried killing Hervor with Baneful Gauntlets, then destroy the engine. And it seem that the alignment doesn't drop at all.--My girlfriend is a loli. 07:57, August 4, 2016 (UTC)

Hervor has a positive alignment of 50, so you will get a penalty for killing him (I lost 2 alignment points when I tried it myself). If you kill him indirectly like you have tried already, you can avoid this. Destroying the engine didn't result in any alignment loss for me, although when I returned to Jongle Dunne and told him about the engine I've lost 5 points.
